Tango Lessons for “Perfect” Parents

The ultimate leap of faith is demonstrated in our choice to become parents. We walk precariously at times on a narrow dance floor, balancing between discipline, responsibility and nurturing. We are bombarded by expert opinions while struggling with our “inherited” parenting techniques. We must learn to prioritize objectives while focusing on the moment. Like dancers, we must not sabotage their growth with anticipation. Are we predicting, therefore limiting their potential? Are we more concerned about how the dance reflects our own status, or are we allowing them to experiment in their own dance?
